Oxygen, Hadrian Building Takeover
Hadrian Building Newcastle, May 2026
70+ artists came together to fill a soon to be demolished building with artwork across a weekend in May. Six floors hosted an array of artists, from graffiti artists to contemporary fine artists. The show hosted sculpture, video, installation, textiles, murals, drawing, painting, music, spoken word and more.
Peep Magazine says: ‘When a building gets condemned, most people walk away. Newcastle's artists moved in. OXYGEN was a rare, invitation-only showcase that transformed an entire soon-to-be-demolished space into a living, breathing canvas — giving 70 of the region's most talented creatives the freedom to leave their mark one last time before the wrecking ball arrives.
Every wall, every corridor, every corner became a statement. From graffiti murals and intricate illustration to raw tagging, spoken word that stopped you in your tracks and live music that shook the walls — OXYGEN was more than an art show. It was a farewell, a celebration and a defiant reminder that Newcastle's creative scene is very much alive. Peep Magazine was there to capture every moment of this incredible two-day event before it disappears forever.’
